Hey Vikings fans! I have a new feature to share with you readers.
Most sports fans I know like to talk about their team to anyone who will listen. Well, I’m giving you an audience! If you’ll notice that in the left hand column of this blog, right under the ad for the “Football Gear” shop (which you’re all buying cool Viking stuff from, right?) there’s a new button that says “Write An Article”. If you click on that button it will take you to a form that you can write your own opinions to be featured as an article on this blog!
Want to gripe about a play that ruined a game? Write an article!
Want to share your opinions on which season you think was the greatest for the Vikings? Write an article!
Want to share your thoughts on how the Vikings were crazy to never start Gino Torretta? (Hey, I’m sure SOMEONE out there thinks that) Write an article!
If you’re already a blogger, don’t let that stop you. Write a guest article for The Viking Ship, but link back to your own blog. Maybe you’ll gain some new readers out of the deal.
There are some easy to follow rules that are listed at the top of the submission form. All of the articles have be be approved before they show up (to prevent flooding of the site with garbage posts, of course), but most of the time I’ll probably be able to get to the approval within a couple hours or so. Of course as the owner, editor, and author of the Viking Ship, I reserve the right to refuse any articles that I don’t want on my site, but let it be known that I’m usually pretty open to other people’s opinions on football.
So, click on the link and send me some articles!

Hey Vikings fans!
Have you recovered from the pain of last night’s game? I certainly haven’t. But, the show must go on, right?
I just wanted to give you a heads up for what to expect from this blog.
Later today I’ll put up my post-game thoughts about last night’s game.
This week, since at least some of the 10 Vikings players selected to the Pro Bowl will probably be going to Miami, we’ll take a look at those players, probably through some player profiles, highlights, and possibly even other ways.
Next week I’ll probably go off-topic just a bit and cover the Super Bowl to some extent. I’ll probably profile some former Vikings that will be playing in the big game, though, just to keep the Vikings flavor on things.
Then after that we will officially be in “off-season” mode. I’ll start breaking down my thoughts on the season, as well as specific players and coaches, we’ll start keeping an eye on the roster, and we’ll start preparing for next season.
Behind the scenes I will be working to make some improvements to the Viking Ship itself. In August of last year, I was still writing for Content Quake, but I made some big changes and improvements to how I presented the blog. That included pictures, the Vikings girls, and of course, music videos. When August of 2010 rolls around, I plan on upgrading things again. I know that seems like a long time from now, but I’m going to be starting on these things pretty darn soon.
It’s been a great football season. Get ready for a great off season, and an even better year next year!

Hey Vikings fans!
I just wanted to fill you in on some ideas that I’m going to toy around with on the blog. I’m always trying to make things better here, and sometimes it takes some experimentation.
In the closing days of writing for Content Quake, I was trying to make the blog a place that was a little more “complete” when it came to Vikings news. I would write completely original articles about big news that came up, as well as original articles of course about game previews and recaps, but on top of that, I was trying keep readers current on all the other Vikings news by posting a link to articles and giving a small two-or-three-line opinion on the piece.
What I noticed is that my Twitter followers seemed to love that, as traffic from Twitter went up. On the flip side, facebook fans seemed to hate it (since I was probably filling their wall with small updates), and my following on facebook dropped.
So I’m going to try to balance that a bit. I’m going to try to post articles and links much more often on the blog. I’ll keep up on my regular posts of daily trivia, game recaps and previews, and, of course, the videos, but I’ll be keeping you more up-to-date on the smaller things that are happening in Vikings-Land as well.
For those of you who just want to keep updated on the bigger stuff, Facebook is going to be your preferred way of following the Viking ship. Unless huge things happen, I’ll limit the updates on Facebook to 1 or 2 a day. So, Follow Us On Facebook if you aren’t already!
For those of you who want all things Vikings all the time, you’ll want to either Subscribe to our RSS feed (using your favorite reader), or Follow us on Twitter. Those two feeds get updated automatically, so you’ll be notified whenever I update the blog. Of course, you might want to become a fan on Facebook as well, just so you don’t miss out on the potential interaction with other fans.
Frequency of posting is something I’m always trying to improve, and it’s a delicate balance. Some of you want all the Vikings information that you can get your hands on, while others want to read about the Vikings once a day. Hopefully I’ll be able to better serve all of you with this plan.
I’d love to hear any comments and suggestions you might have.

Okay, okay, so the Vikings lost to the Steelers.
It’s over, and it’s time to look forward.
This is a big week for the Vikings and for Brett Favre. For the Vikings, it’s a divisional game against the Packers, who are now only a game back. The Vikings need to win to keep first place, and to stay on top for any potential tie breaker.
For Favre, it’ll be his first time playing at Lambeau field as a visitor. That has to be a big deal, even though he’ll downplay it in interviews this week.
We always focus on the upcoming games through out the week, with the exception of the Player of the game post on Tuesdays. But since the Vikings lost, there will be no player of the game this week. Instead we’re going to put all our attention on Packers week.
As always, I’m going to post some new stuff that you guys might like, but I also might repost a few old things here and there, just to throw some extra fuel on the Rivalry fire.
CRUSH THE PACKERS! SKOL VIKINGS!

Hey Vikings Fans
I just thought I’d take a minute to introduce the nine lovely ladies that make this blog so much nicer to look at! I did this one time at Content Quake before we moved here, but I’m guessing from the names I’m seeing in the comments and the stats I’m seeing in Google Analytics that we have quite a few new readers, so I thought I’d do it again.
So Vikings fans, meet the Vikings girls!

It’s true that the girls don’t add necessarily any extra Vikings content to this site, but you have to admit, they make that content much more pleasant to look at!
I appreciate all of the crazy things that these girls were willing to do to try to help me set my blog apart a little bit! I’m sure you’ve seen them all a lot around here already, and I’m sure you’ll continue seeing them much more in the future!

Welcome to the Viking Ship!
For those of you who are joining me from Content Quake, thank you for coming here. For those of you who are brand new, thanks for stopping by!
I’m Jason, otherwise known as The Jazzy One (or just Jazz). I’ve been writing for Content Quake for a little over a year now, and I decided to branch out and start my own site. I’ll still update Content Quake, but this is going to be the spot for most of the great features, so please update your bookmarks and be prepared for The Viking Ship to become your new favorite Minnesota Vikings Blog!
