NOTE: I got this article sent to me in my email. I love it! Very creative and well thought out. I hope you guys like it, too:

- The Jazzy One

Adrian PeterSigurd

Like the Norse hero Sigurd, our boy Adrian seemed invulnerable. A little background for those who do not know the legend: Sigurd was a
true hero of the Vikings who was tasked to kill a dragon. After he had achieved this feat (the modern-day equivalent of rushing 296 yards in
a single game) he then bathed in the dragon’s blood, which rendered him invulnerable, except for a single spot. Unfortunately for
Siegfried, a leaf fell onto his back, and the patch of skin that the leaf covered did not come into contact with the blood, leaving
Siegfried vulnerable in that single spot.
It appears the Vikings’ opposition has discovered his Achilles’ Heel, the offensive line. The O Line has not done the work necessary to let
their hero continue his dragon slaying. Everyone in the league knows the man can run and will tailor their defenses accordingly. If Frazier
and the line don’t anticipate this reaction better, Kleinsasser’s going to have a sore back before the playoffs. Which leads us to our
next parallel…

More Longboats!

The Norse people were extraordinary sailors. Their longboats were feared throughout the 8th-11th centuries because they were highly
maneuverable in shallow waters and enemy territory; striking defenseless positions with impunity and escaping danger just as
swiftly. These tactics allowed the Vikings to discover America and conquer most of Northern Europe.

I’m metaphorically speaking of the Wide Receivers (or lack thereof) here. The reason the Viks are 2-7 is due to the limited options
available for Ponder/McNabb. Aromasha and Camarillo are hardly enough warships to send into enemy territory with the purpose of penetrating
defensive lines. Trading for a receiver like Steve Smith (this season) isn’t the answer either. If we want to turn our franchise around, we
need a larger fleet of fast, talented receivers. The more options available to Ponder (apologies for the pun), the more available
Peterson will be at crunch time because the defense cannot solely focus on the run.

Bring Back the Bloodlust!

The Vikings, and their offspring the Picts and Gauls, were world-renowned for their ferocity on the battlefield. Whether
utilizing warpaint, battle drums or fighting in their birthday suits, the Nordic people were unmatched on the battlefield due to their
tenacity and ferocity. Charging heedlessly forward into battle, no matter the odds stacked against them, and emerging victorious is a
recurring tale in the history of the Vikings and their descendants. Sadly, that fire is absent in our Minnesota Vikings. The McNabb/Ponder
switch, Antoine Winfield’s injury and a throttling of 45-7 by the Packers are all steadily extinguishing the momentum that had been
building so well. Two years ago, we were only one play away from the Super Bowl! Everybody (players, coaches and fans) needs to remember
that.
Remember 1969.

Remember the excitement when All Day was brought on board.

And most importantly, remember our namesake.

The Vikings are still the most ferocious band of warriors the civilized world has ever seen.

Become a Viking on a Budget in 60 Days

We’re still early in the season, but in a few months, your friends will be eating, sleeping, and breathing
football. If you want to start showing off your Minnesota Vikings pride in a couple of months, you’d
better start now. This article will give you 5 steps to don the Viking look and get to the famous Hubert
H. Humphrey Metrodome in 60 days—without going broke.

Step 1: Order tickets from StubHub ASAP!
If you wait until the last minute to get your Vikes tickets, you might end up paying an arm and a leg to
some scalper. Buy tickets for less from StubHub.com during the early season. StubHub’s FanProtect
Guarantee promises your tickets will be real and delivered on time. They also promise sellers won’t get
in touch with you directly.

You could also try buying tickets on eBay, but some fans have gotten ripped off, so make sure you go
with trusted sellers.

Step 2: Travel to the Dome for less.
For Minnesota residents, driving is the preferred way to get to Minneapolis.

If you live a few states away, you might be tempted to fly, at least until you see what the airlines are
charging for tickets! To save money, try traveling on the Greyhound bus or Amtrak train instead. You’ll
want to order your tickets this month to get lower fares.

Step 3: Apply for a team-branded credit card.
Apply for an official NFL credit card now so you can show it off for the rest of the season.

Stacey Kelly from CreditDonkey says, with an NFL team-branded credit card, every purchase gives
you a chance to display your purple pride. Your card will look sharp in team colors, with the Vikings’
logo on the front for all the world to see. You can even earn credit card rewards points to redeem for
fan gear.

And yes, you will be buying gear next month as your game day gets nearer!

Step 4: Order a Helga hat.
If you’ve watched a Vikings game, you must have seen Helga hats. These hats are made to look like
Norse helmets, with plush horns coming from the sides and yellow braids that hang from your ears to
your chest. Of course, you’ll look silly wearing one, but you’ll have fun. And it sure beats sticking a
fake block of cheese on your head!

Now, you can buy an official Helga hat from VikingsFanShop.com, but it’s $30. For this item, try
eBay, where you can find knock-off hats for less than half the price. Be sure to look over the hat and
wash it before wearing it, just to be safe.

With the money you save, you’ll be buying face paint.

Step 5: Buy face paint.
Nothing says “hardcore fan” like painting your face—except maybe painting your chest, but Minnesota
can get pretty cold. Now, you could steal your sister’s black eye liner and pretend you’re wearing eye
black, but to really stand out, you’ve gotta go for purple and yellow face paint.

You may want to buy face paint locally to make sure you’re getting the dark purple shade you want.
Walmart is a good, cheap place to pick up face paint.

When it comes time to apply the paint, put on sunscreen beforehand to make sure you don’t end up with
a weird tan line. The American Melanoma Foundation recommends sunscreen with at least an SPF of
15, but the higher, the better.

If you’re a guy, try painting most of your face purple, but use the yellow paint to draw a walrus-style,
handlebar mustache and thick eyebrows for that manly Viking look. If you’re a girl, you might want to
stick to the classic half-purple and half-yellow style instead.

If you follow these steps, you’ll have everything you need to storm the Dome like a true Vikings fan.
Now stop reading this article and go order your tickets!

What To Wear at Your Next Vikings Game

No matter how old you are, attending a Vikings game is always a treat. Taking your seat amongst numerous bare-chested fans waving foam fingers as they sip from their 14 oz. cups full of liquid gold, can give you the kind of joy normally reserved for Christmas and the Fourth of July. However, one of the ways you can enhance this experience, and make yourself feel like you are really a part of the action is by covering yourself in purple and gold. Wearing the colors of your team can offer you this feeling of pride that no other outfit can achieve. It is amazing how a few pieces of cotton and mesh can take a regular fan and transform them into the kind of individual who makes it on the jumbotron a legend.

While this past summer provided us with some doubt over whether or not there would be football this year, it appears the storm has passed, and the sun is peaking out of the remaining dark clouds. Start your season off right and put together your new gameday outfit by visiting one of the Viking’s best online fan shops. With so much to choose from, you can be sure to find the best combination of fan gear for you and your family. As a diehard, you want to demonstrate that you are not some regular bandwagon fan who just recently purchased a Brett Favre jersey just because it was popular to do so. You want to wear that item that makes other people in the stands say, “Wow!

Minnesota Viking Kyle Rudolph is one of several rookies being featured in the weekly Web series from NFL Films and Gatorade, “Everything to Prove.” The show follows the rookies throughout the offseason – from Senior Bowl to Draft and beyond – and captures their lives on the field and off. It’s a great way for fans to get to know these incoming players all offseason long.

Rudolph is featured heavily in this week’s episode: We go behind the scenes as Rudolph checks out the Santa Monica Pier with fellow draft picks Jake Locker, Von Miller, and Blaine Gabbert. The cameras follow Rudolph as he has a caricature created of himself alongside Miller and discusses his excitement to be donning the Viking Purple. Might be worth a quick post or tweet to get fans to check it out and see a different side of the future Viking Tight End.

· Kyle’s latest episode is here: http://bit.ly/m0rSey

Hey Vikings Fans! It’s been a while since we’ve had a Reader-Submitted article here on The Viking Ship, but we have one today! This one is from Alex Arnold, who since I know him in person, I can safely say that he’s been a reader since I was writing on Content Quake a couple of years ago.

Vikings 2011 Opponents

by Alex Arnold

Now that the Vikings 2010 Season has been completed, the NFL released the opponents for every team home and away for the 2011 season.

Home Opponents: Bears, Packers, Lions, Bucs, Saints, Broncos, Raiders, Cardinals.

Road Opponents: Bears, Packers. Lions, Panthers, Falcons, Chargers, Chiefs, Redskins.

Explanation of the opponents for those who may not know how the NFL structures its 16 game schedule every year (I really don’t want the season upgraded to 18 games because of how it would effect this “no less than perfect” structure.)

The first 3 opponents (home and road) I listed are obviously our division foes. We always play them every year.

2011 is the year the NFC North in intraconference play takes on the NFC South as part of its 3 year rotation. We simply rotate from WHERE we played every NFC South team in 2008.

Interconference play in 2011 for the NFC North takes on the AFC West as part of its 4 year rotation. The 2010 season was the first year in which the western divisions (both AFC and NFC) had its group of teams tweaked to relieve teams on the coast line from having to travel so much as well as its visitors. Since that was incepted, the only rotations from 2007 are the Chargers and the Broncos.

The remaining 2 opponents are intraconference battles from the 2 other divisions the NFC North is not scheduled to play. 2011 will have the NFC West (home) and East (road) for it. For this matter, since the Vikings finished last in the NFC North, they will play the West (Cardinals) and East (Redskins) teams that finished last as well.

Schedule Overview
This will be a somewhat tough stretch of games for the 2011 season considering we play the NFC South. I think we can totally dominate the AFC West though (the Chargers on the road could give us a tough time, but anything can happen).

I’ve already known who our opponents would be this upcoming season, but what I’m most anxious about is the release of the dates and times of these games (which won’t be until mid-April, the time of the draft). When that comes out, we’ll get to know which games will be Monday Night ones and so on.

That is all I have to say about THIS schedule release. If you have any questions about our opponents for the 2011 season, please let me know.

SKOL!

I thought these NFL week 2 odds may be of interest to you. They’re courtesy of Bodog, www.Bodog.com. Included below are how the SB odds changed after one week (along with a quote from Bodog Sportsbook Manager Richard Gardner), Michael Vick odds, Peyton vs. Eli odds, Jets vs. Patriots odds, Hall of Fame odds, and even Alex Barron penalty odds.

Quote from Bodog Sportsbook Manager

“We have a new favorite to win the Super Bowl in the Green Bay Packers. In terms of other teams and Super Bowl odds movement, with Kansas City upsetting San Diego last week we have moved them from 100-1 to 60-1 to win Super Bowl XLV and the Chargers haved moved up a touch from 12-1 to 14-1. A team who’s odds have shot up a bit is the Minnesota Vikings, who pre-season we were taking a lot of money on them at 12-1 are now sitting at 16-1. It is still early on in the season and there have not been any other major moves just yet as it is tough to gage a team’s entire season on just 1 week.”

Viking Nation,

I write to you today as a fellow fanatic. A fellow fanatic with ideas. Big ideas.

Earlier this year, I harvested these ideas. I began an operation for Minnesota sports fanatics called TwinsTrain. No. It’s not an actual train. The TwinsTrain is a touring group that mobilizes local fans to follow the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings when they hit the road and play rival opponents. The tour permits guests to see other stadiums AND their Minnesota Viking play, amidst thousands of angry fans of the opponent.

Sounds fun, huh? It gets better. Let’s take the tour to Green Bay on October 24 for example. The tour commutes with the use of a deluxe motor coach (the SAME buses from the SAME bus company the Vikes themselves use), filled with coolers of complimentary (adult/soft) beverages for all guests. We also supply all the tickets for our guests in a group format — power in numbers, right? — preceded by a 2.5-hour VIP pregame party arranged just for us!

“VIP” means gourmet buffets to feed the Sunday gourmand in you. Open bar for the, uh, celebrator in you. Live bands. Packer alumni meet-and-greet (sigh, whatever). And general fanaticism, trash-talking, and other Sunday fodder. Essentially, an awesome way to get primed for the big game.

Ever tried to get your paws on a large sum of Lambeau tickets? Good luck. Better have a real good cheese-heady season ticket holder/friend with an open seat. But what’s the sense in that?

TwinsTrain has locked up 40 seats for this game. How many chances in your life will you have to see the Purple play at Lambeau Field, with all your friends and family? Hell, it’s half the reason I booked these tickets!

I genuinely enjoy gathering my fellow Minnesota fans and bringing them on the road. Besides the game and party, the adventure itself is really something special (and many of my guests prior to this can attest to that). Something you’ll remember for a long, long time — whether they win or lose (our most recent trip to Detroit proved that, losing both games and having a sensational time nonetheless).

So come join your fellow Purple. It’s a project that you can feel proud being a part of. Just think of 40 fans draped in purple taking up a sizable chunk of seats at Lambeau Field. That’s Purple Pride.

See ya there.

::For more information, and a full itinerary of the trip, go to http://www.TwinsTrain.com and click on “Vikes”::
