FEATURED VIKINGS ARTICLE: Mel Kiper and Todd McShay Release Final Mock Drafts

Featured Minnesota Vikings Post From Around The Web

There are such a lot of great Minnesota Vikings web pages out there that sometimes I need to feature some of the bits that I come across.

Enjoy!

Mel Kiper and Todd McShay Release Final Mock Drafts

For one final time before the 2016 NFL Draft gets underway, we take a journey behind the great E$ PN Paywall and see what draft experts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper have done for the Minnesota Vikings in their final Mock Drafts of this offseason. Not surprisingly, they both have the Vikings addressing the same position, but addressing it with different players.

We’ll start with Kiper, who pairs the Vikings with Mississippi standout Laquon Treadwell.

A potential dream scenario for the Vikings, who will be looking for the No. 2 option in that offense to go with Stefon Diggs. Treadwell lacks elite speed, but he’s got pretty much everything else you want.

Frankly, I’d be pretty happy with Treadwell if that’s the way the Vikings decided to go. There’s a reason he was regarded as the #1 wide receiver prospect throughout most of this process, and he still might not be all the way back from the nasty injury he suffered as a sophomore at Ole ” >”>

BEHIND ENEMY LINES (PACKERS): The curious case of Eli Apple, an anonymous scout, and cooking skills

Hello Minnesota Vikes fans

I’d say it’s fair to assume that part of being a Vikings fan is hating the Pack, right?

Well, occasionally I’ll post an article about the Packers, just to help you watch what they’re up to.

The curious case of Eli Apple, an anonymous scout, and cooking skills

Hell hath no fury like the mother of an NFL Draft prospect scorned.

This year, Twitter and the NFL media have taken to Bob McGinn’s draft preview series like moths to a flame. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel columnist has published his positional breakdowns and rankings over the past week-plus, each with a bevy of anonymous quotes from scouts about various players.

Those quotes have made for a week of criticizing and making fun of these scouts for perceived ridiculous comments. Take, for example, one comment that Vernon Butler of Louisiana Tech stood out on film because he wore a single-digit number (9) in college drew plenty of laughs from Draft Twitter.

On Wednesday, though, we may have achieved peak ridiculousness. Here is an excerpt from McGinn’s piece on the defensive backs, talking about Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple:

BEHIND ENEMY LINES (DETROIT): 2016 NFL Mock Draft: Carolina Panthers select Mackensie Alexander

Hey Vikes faithful

It’s fair to assume that part of being a Minnesota Vikings fan is hating the other teams in the division amiright? As Vikings followers we have possibly ignored the Silver Kitties for too long now. They might not be there yet, but they’re trying to put together a real team up there, so maybe we should keep an eye on them, too!

Since that’s the case, occasionally I’ll post an article about the Lions, just to help you watch what they’re up to.

2016 NFL Mock Draft: Carolina Panthers select Mackensie Alexander

The Carolina Panthers select Mackensie Alexander with the 30th pick in the POD Community Mock Draft.

With the 30th pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select cornerback Mackensie Alexander. Cram9030 is the acting general manager for the Panthers. Below is the rationale for the pick.

This draft fell leaving me with two options: a player I love and one that fits like a glove. I gave serious consideration to selecting Josh Doctson at this spot. I think he is the best receiver in the draft and even with Kelvin Benjamin coming back, the receiver cupboard is pretty bare for the Panthers. Somehow, though, the all-star rejects of a receiving corp in Carolina have been managing to play about average thanks to a strong running game, play action and Cam Newton, so I choose to focus on the other side of the ball.

The cornerback position opposite of Josh Norman currently has illustrious “>

BEHIND ENEMY LINES (PACKERS): 2016 NFL Draft Trade: Browns trade #2 pick to Eagles

Hey There Minnesota Vikes fanatics

I’m sure it’s safe for me to assume that part of being a Vikings fan is hating the Green Bay Packers, correct?

Well, occasionally I’ll share an article about the Packers, just to help you keep an eye on what they’re doing.

2016 NFL Draft Trade: Browns trade #2 pick to Eagles

It’s all but certain now that quarterbacks will go 1 and 2 next Thursday.

As of this afternoon, both of the top two overall picks in the 2016 NFL Draft have changed hands.

Last week, the Tennessee Titans traded the first pick to the Los Angeles Rams, who sent the Titans a whopping batch of picks to move up from the 15th selection. Today, the Philadelphia Eagles are moving up six spots, from number 8 all the way to the second slot in the draft, which had been occupied by the Cleveland Browns.

The full trade package is here, reported initially by the Eagles themselves:
